Kent Central Gateway competes for parking guests downtown

It’s been over a year since the Kent Central Gateway opened downtown.

While the parking garage has seen some regular business, it’s still competing with the free parking available in the area.

But, that may change this year.

At a Kent council meeting in early 2014, a motion to install parking meters on certain streets in downtown Kent was called.

Business owners feel that meters will help with the need for parking spaces to turn over, instead of visitors parking in a space all day.
