Deer’s breeding season may lead to more traffic coalition

Accidents involving deer can be very severe and even cause driver fatalities. This time of the year is the breeding season of deer. Drivers now have one more thing to look out when they are on the road; TV2’s Yujing You has the story.

When deer are entering their breeding season, drivers must pay close attention when driving on the road.
October and early November are generally the height of deer’s breading season. Male deer are moving a lot trying to seek for female partners. Often times they are very single-minded, male deer are busy chasing female deer and are less aware of the dangerous of cars on the roads.
Cuyahoga Valley National Park Chief of Resource Management Lisa Petit said there are 147 deer per square mile around the park. In Boston Village area and Stanford Road area people can usually see deer around the road or cross the road.
High way I-80 and 271 are the two major high ways that cross the park. Several deer coalitions are reported from these two high ways, but the greater number of coalition usually happens in the smaller roads.
Deer are very active in the early morning and at night and they are harder to see from vehicles. Petit suggest people to drive very carefully, not just in the park area but the whole Northeast Ohio area. Petit says there are just a lot of deer.
