9-1-1 Systems in Portage County to Experience Upgrade

The first question a 9-1-1 operator asks a caller is where they are located. However, the technology in Portage County does not have the capability to GPS track mobile devices. The county’s 9-1-1 system will undergo an upgrade, which will help first responders locate a caller. There are other added features to this system that are potentially beneficial in multiple emergency situations. The installation date for this upgrade is early 2017.
