French and Kennedy Retain Ohio Supreme Court Justice Seats
After a long battle for the two Ohio Supreme Court Justice seats, incumbents Judith French and Sharon Kennedy retained their seats on election night.
French won with a 56% lead to opponent Dem, John O’Donnell’s 44% of votes after O’Donnell conceded.
“It feels wonderful,” French said told the Columbus Dispatch. “Whatever words I have tonight, they are not just adequate. I am happy to have defeated the name game. People understood who I was and who I am.”
As an attorney, French served as a tutor and mentor in the Columbus Public Schools and spoke frequently to students from around Ohio. She received a “highly recommended” rating from the Ohio State Bar Association.
And Kennedy won in a landslide of 73% against State Rep. Tom Letson, D-Warren, who only received 27% votes.
As her campaign media contact stated, Kennedy cares about civic education and helping the youth and preventing them from the justice system, however declined to participate in the Ohio Bar Association’s ratings.
Kennedy’s term commencement begins in January 1st of 2015 while French’s term commencement begins the day after for January 2nd of 2015.
