Assaults in Downtown Kent

An assault is “carried out by a threat of bodily harm coupled with an apparent, present ability to cause the harm”, according to Wikipedia. Under Ohio Revised Code, Chapter 2903.13 Assault, no person shall knowingly cause or attempt to cause physical harm to another or to another’s unborn and no person shall recklessly cause serious physical harm to another or to another’s unborn.It is considered a first degree misdemeanor except in certain circumstances.

Here in Kent, Ohio, the number of assault incidents in downtown are not alarming to the Kent Police Department. TV2’s Alaina Altieri has the number of incidents and how the police keep downtown safe.

Other Forms of Assault:

Felonious Assault: “No person shall knowingly do either of the following:

(1) Cause serious physical harm to another or to another’s unborn;

(2) Cause or attempt to cause physical harm to another or to another’s unborn by means of a deadly weapon or dangerous ordnance,” according to Ohio Revised Code 2903.11

Aggravated Assault: “No person, while under the influence of sudden passion or in a sudden fit of rage, either of which is brought on by serious provocation occasioned by the victim that is reasonably sufficient to incite the person into using deadly force, shall knowingly:

(1) Cause serious physical harm to another or to another’s unborn;

(2) Cause or attempt to cause physical harm to another or to another’s unborn by means of a deadly weapon or dangerous ordnance”, as defined in section 2923.11 of the Revised Code

Negligent Assault: “No person shall negligently, by means of a deadly weapon or dangerous ordinance as defined in section 2923.11 of the Revised Code, cause physical harm to another or to another’s unborn.”
