What is ThingLink?
ThingLink is a free online tool used to interactive images with links used for web, social, advertising and educational channels.
For RPP, his program can be used to create an interactive featured image for a story that engages the reader more than a standard picture and provides them with links to outside sources.
How to create a ThingLink Image:
- Visit www.thinglink.com and create an account to login to the site.
2. Click the “create” button in the top right hand corner to begin making your interactive image.
3. Next, select the blue “choose images or drag-and-drop here” icon to upload an image.
4. Once you have uploaded an image, take the “+” curser and select anywhere on the image to place a white dot. This is the clickable feature that hosts the link.
5. Then go to the “edit tab” field on the left hand side and paste a link into the “link or image address” box (below that is also a box that allows you to add text to correspond with the link).
6. After you have added as many links as you see fit, click the green “save image” tab in the lower right hand corner.
7. Once you have completed that, you are now able to upload or embed your ThingLink image into the RPP WordPress site. To get the embed code, simply click on the “share” button to the right of the image.
