Kent Moves Forward with Plans to Build New City Hall

After never having a building to house all city employees, the city of Kent is moving forward with its plans to build a new city hall. The building will be located at 319 S Water St, which is where the old police station was located.

City officials say the main concern from citizens is what the building will look like and how it will be funded. These are all things the city council members are taking into consideration.

At the next council meeting, in October, members will be looking to accept bids for the project, so they can get the building process started. There have been a total of 16 bidders starting at 8.5 million to 9.9 million, all above the architects’ estimate of 7.3 million for the three-story building. There will not be a timeline on the building until a bid is accepted.
