One man pleads guilty, in the rape of a Kent State student back in 2007

On September 22nd, 2007, a Kent State was raped at her apartment in Kent, there has finally been a crack in the case. Three men now face charges after a database maintained by the FBI of DNA samples obtained from crime scenes and directly from convicted criminals. The CODIS system is used to generate investigative leads in the evaluation of criminal behavior such as sexual assaults and murders. The evidence from the rape kit was loaded into the database in 2007, which later got its first hit in 2018 and then got its second hit in 2020 because the CODIS database continuously checks on a daily basis DNA samples. The Portage County Prosecutor’s Office did not wish to comment in detail about this open investigation.
