Streetsboro City Schools remains strong and student focused even with a loss of their own

It should come at no surprise that at almost 3-weeks the Streetsboro school district is still mourning the loss of track athlete James Woods. During the two-hour board meeting the district took time to offer a moment of silence to the Streetsboro senior and his family. Even noting students strides to support the Woods family by donating what they can to his memorial fund. Showing how strong the close-knit community of Streetsboro is. Following, board members emotionally reflected on the progress of students in not only academia and sports but their commitments to give back to the community. Streetsboro high school athletes who take part in the Captain’s Council outreach group have served food with Kent Social Services and donated 50 bears to Rainbows Babies and Children’s Hospital. The meeting continued with updates from board members and recommendations on updates to their  3 schools HVAC systems which is funded by a levy. The purchases of two new school buses and a 9-passenger van to transport smaller groups like it’s high school golf or bowling teams. The district remains focused on continued collaboration among educators in order to allow students to dream anything they want.
