Portage County aid groups work to support Homeless individuals

Ohio winters can be brutal and there is one group that struggles most during this time, the homeless population. According to the Haven of Portage County there are 208 people who are registered as homeless in Portage County. The City of Kent says they have been working for decades to support people in need by providing warming stations, mental health resources, and substance abuse counseling. There are also varying levels of homelessness according to Bridget Susel the City of Kent Community Development Director. She says some people are chronically homeless while others are just couch surfing.
