Rebecca Basar- Citizen of Streetsboro
Citizen of Streetsboro, Rebecca Basar is concerned about the new location of the high school. The school and the city have swapped lands in a recent deal which will allow the school to grow in many areas. The locals are concerned about what will happen after the new school is built.
“There’s going to be traffic everywhere and there is not a lot of in and out space for it,” stated Basar.
There are many reasons as to why the new school will cause traffic issues; citizens are not only concerned about construction traffic but also once the school is fully built it will cause traffic issues.
“There is only going to be one cross road and it going to really congest it up really bad. I think it’s stupid because they were originally, they swapped lands with the city.”
The school had multiple options when deciding on where to rebuild, one of which the locals had favored.
Basar said, “They could’ve built upon what they already had and it wouldn’t have changed a thing.”
Building upon the land that the school had already owned would not have caused the traffic congestion that the new land will bring. The city of Streetsboro has said that they will not tax the residents for the school rebuilding but residents are skeptical.
“Probably [getting taxed], but they keep saying no more taxes,” said Basar.

Marie Reid- Citizen of Streetsboro
Marie Reid has been a citizen of Streetsboro for twenty-three years. She says her concernsare the loss of businesses in the area. They have recently lost local fast food establishments such as Wendy’s, Arby’s, and a few others. She also addressed that many citizens wish to fill these buildings with businesses such as Panera and Bed, Bath & Beyond. The only recent business that the city of Streetsboro has gained is Sally’s Beauty Supply.
Reid said, “We’ve got empty buildings and we need businesses to come in those buildings to fill them.”
