It’s been nearly a month since colleges and universities started welcoming students back to campus. As many have tried to balance coursework with the COVID-19 pandemic, some students have completely disregarded CDC guidelines and university recommendations. The Ohio State University suspended over 200 students for off-campus partying, and West Virginia University went completely online after an abundance of cases. Kent State University is still conducting in-person classes after a reported 33 cases this week.

What protocols will Kent State University follow if students are caught partying on or off-campus? Todd Kamenash, Associate Dean of Students for Conduct and Community Engagement, explains what sanctions students should be aware of before making decisions against CDC recommendations.

Kent State will handle any negligence the same as other violations: on a case-by-case basis. From a warning to a suspension, Kamenash wants students to know that the university is taking any complaints seriously.
